I am a photographic artist who is inspired by the blessed variety of life; the outdoors, wildlife, trains, movies and many other things!
I enjoy creating images that express a positive and inspiring message or a sense of wonder about our world and ourselves. My photography is more than just a documentation of moments, it's a story and experience of joyful moments in life and living.
I originally started out with hopes to become an Architect, and worked with a high-end custom homebuilder as an Architectural Technologist. There was a lot to learn working there, and I was able to develop design skills that now enable me to consult with my collectors on what images, sizes, and colors will work best for their space.
My work has been recognized and awarded both in Canada and Internationally for fine art and commercial genres; I've also worked directly with Canon as a Product Consultant and Canon Professional (Ambassador); I was often referred to as the Western Canadian Canon Expert.
I have engaged professional photographers, amateurs, and beginner photographers at speaking events throughout Southern Alberta about photography and creating images.
In conjunction with Canon Image Square during the annual Exposure Photography Festival in Calgary and Southern Alberta from 2013 to 2015, I gave talks to photographers on "Photography to Fine Art", which were sold-out events on all 3 occasions.
My efforts to work in motion picture gave me opportunity to learn nearly every aspect of film making, from both in front and behind the camera. In 2007, I was honored with a nomination for "Best Cinematographer" in a feature film titled "Dreamers", by Dreamers Film Ltd. With additional projects coming into my experience following, I was honored again in 2012 with another nomination for "Best Cinematographer" in a feature film titled "There by Grace", by the same production company.
Since September of 2009, I have directly participated in the annual Alberta Arts Days Celebrations, and have supported a number of good causes in doing so. In 2010 specifically, a percentage of my fine art and product sales was donated to the Museum of the Highwood, to help in restorations due to a fire. Following soon after, I was commissioned by the Town of High River, to photograph and digitally restore their heritage collection of wall murals to collect funds and interest in their restoration project.
My first self-published fine art book came to life in 2010; it is a collection featuring the first 5 years of my popular "Today in Alberta" newsletter. Based upon its success, I immediately published another two book projects that same year, "The Backcountry Guardian", and "Road to Victory: One Bodybuilder's Story".
Creating professional images since 1999, my work has been licensed for use in International venues and publications, calendars, books, posters, websites, feature films, and collected as fine art around the globe.
Please take an in-depth look at my site, purchase a print or unique item, or contact me if you desire something more, I am also available for commissioned works and special projects from custom portraits to commercial inspirations.
